HEADACHES

Headaches are one of the oldest known ailments. Scriptures dating back to Babylonians already described similar conditions in patients. The term “headache” or “cephalgia” describes a number of conditions that vary in severity, frequency, localization and duration.
There are 176 recognized types of headaches..!
Approximately 90% of headaches are tension related, migraines and of cervical origin caused by muscular, circulatory or neurological problems.
Tension headaches are most common but least severe, affecting both sides of the head.
Migraines are periodic, severe, throbbing, often affecting women more than men and can be accompanied by a loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
Headaches of cervical origin are localized at the base of the neck, base of the cranium, forehead, temples and may be aggravated by movements of the head or a prolonged position.
Articular blockages in the neck may cause muscular tension, circulatory problems and hypersensitivity thus causing headaches/migraines. This phenomenon also exists among children: 70% of them suffer headaches before age 15.
Numerous studies and testimonials demonstrate the effectiveness of chiropractic care in the treatment of headaches (cephalgia) and migraines. Significant improvement was reported in frequency, duration and intensity of headaches/migraines.
Some of these studies have shown that chiropractic care is at least as effective, if not more as headache/migraine medication, without secondary effects and with long term benefit.
